Recently there has been several reports of children under the age of five eating laundry and dish detergent pods. Detergent pods are colorful and bright; when children see them, they think of candy. Children like to try things that they see their parents do: so when children see them in a cabinet, or see mom using them, they want to do it too. Just this year, there has been 2,950 children internally injured from the consumption of detergent pods. Just in the month of August of 2012, there has been 734 children injured. By consuming these detergent pods, children can suffer from tissue damage, intense inflammation, excessive vomiting, and gasping along with weazing also. I use detergent pods everyday at home, and have children in th home that are under five years old. To prevent children from having to suffer these horrible side effects, we can put locks on cabinets or put them in a more secure area.
